How Do I Install My Composite Cladding?

You will have heard about the many amazing uses and benefits of our coastline composite cladding, but how do you install it? To make things easier, we have made a step by step guide for you to follow and bring your design to life.

Tools required

Before getting started, ensure you have the correct tools and then you will be able to get this show on the road. Check out our tools if you need any of the below.

Working Out How Much Cladding You Need

For straightforward square and rectangular areas like walls and ceilings, simply measure the length and height (walls and panels) or width and length (Ceilings) and multiply the two dimensions together. To make things easier for you, we have devised our very own guide for you to calculate how much cladding you need here. This will explain how to work out your measurements and it also includes a quick calculator. Your may also need fascia boards, fixing screws, fixing battens/joists and corner nosing trim. For these, we recommend:

  • Battens / Joists – Require 9m per 5m² of Cladding
  • Fascia Boards and Corner Nosing Trim – 2 per 5m² of Cladding
  • Fixing screws – Require 5 per cladding board

Installing Your Cladding supports

Firstly, you will need to fix treated timer or plastic battens to the supporting wall and the widths must be no more than 600mm. The first batten to install will need to be fixed a minimum of 20mm from the floor and should be installed around any doors and windows.

Installing Your Cladding

To start with, you need to mark level lines on your battens for the lowest batten to be fixed and this must be placed a minimum of 15mm off the floor. You will then need to pre-drill screw holes in your cladding board and these must be 2mm wider than the screw thread so you allow for any potential expansion. You can now put the bottom cladding board in position and fix it to the batten using the holes you initially screwed. Following this, you simply repeat the process and ensure all boards are level to create a fantastic finish.

Finalising The Process

To finish your new and stylish design, you will need to cover the final cladding board with a fascia board. To finalise corners and edges, you can use corner nosing trim and this will finish off your design perfectly.
