How to measure for Korniche aluminium roof lanterns?

If you are about to order your Korniche roof lantern but you are unsure how to measure your roof opening, you are in the right place. This guide will help you with how to measure the dimensions of roof opening and how to build your upstand so your lantern can fit perfectly.

Before you order your roof lantern, your builders will have to build an upstand on which the roof lantern can fit. The upstand must be a minimum of 69mm wide (the same as the width of the lantern eaves beam) and 150mm high. The roof lantern upstand should also be level and square. The responsibility to determine the finishing detail of the inside is responsibility of the installer of the roof lantern.

Dimensions

Internal dimensions – these are the internal length and the width of your roof opening. These dimensions are important but are NOT the sizes to which your lantern should or will be manufactured.

External dimensions – these are the external dimensions to which your lantern will be manufactured and the sizes of the lantern you must order to fit your upstand. It is also recommended that you increase the size by 12mm in both length and width in order to give you an overhang of 6mm all round.

Example

Upstand (inc weatherproof membrane): 1840mm x 1220mm

Overhang: 12mm x 12mm

Roof lantern size: 1852mm x 1232mm
